Acupuncture

Acupuncture needles are very thin, hairlike, or filiform needles. You may feel a slight pinch when they are inserted and removed. This sensation is nothing like that produced with a hypodermic needle used for injections.

Most people experience some sensation while the needles are in place. Some may feel a tingling, or distending sensation, others a mild pulsing, and others feel nothing.

Single use, disposable, stainless steel needles are used for acupuncture. Although you may experience some temporary discomfort. Serious side effects are very rare – less than one per 10,000 treatments.

Laser Acupuncture

Laser "acupuncture" uses concentrated laser light to stimulate vital points or treat broad areas of the body by stimulating tissues at different levels from the skin and deeper into the body. The intensity and wavelength used are different than the lasers used for cutting and burning and are referred to as "soft" or "cold" laser therapy.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy. Mugwort, or artemesia vulgaris is burned and used to apply penetrating heat to body areas and vital points. Ii is most effective to relieve chronic pain worsened by exposure to dampness and cold.

Shiatsu-Anma

Shiatsu-Anma is a style of acupressure. It can be used with other Chinese Medicine techniques to enhance performance, strengthen immunity, reduce stress and prevent injury and disease. Acupressure can treat all of the same symptoms and conditions as acupuncture, in a milder and more subtle way. Acupressure can be used instead of, or along with acupuncture.

Herbal Medicine

Many Paths Acupuncture uses prepared formulas mostly in liquid extract form made by Kan Herbs in California. Formulas may be combined, modified with the addition of single herbs, or alternated to treat certain conditions.

Qigong

Qigong might best be described as a cross between the gentle slow movements of taiqi and the static poses of yoga. Qigong can be translated as "energy cultivation" and combines meditative breathing and relaxation techniques with movement exercises. Qigong is used to rehabliltate injury, restore function, and enhance vitality and endurance.
